Personal Growth – Practice Waiting

Lesson two – Another Happy Ending for Practicing Patience. – October 2009

I was on a cruise to Alaska and using the ship internet connection to check out some changes to my web site. To my dismay, everything looked fine except that the web site masthead was not visible. I was particulary upset because I wanted to proudly show the site to some new friends.

After three days of emails back and forth to my web master, who assured me that it was there, I gave up trying. Oh what a relief it was to just give up.

But within a minute, the energy of giving up turned into the energy of a plan B. I would simply get my new friends Email addresses and Email them the link when I got home.

Ironically, two days later while still on the ship, I found out that the ships’ network software was out of date, and it could not display the Java display software we use for the sites’ masthead. So it never would have worked, no matter what I tried.

Thankfully, I saved myself a lot of grief in the meantime, and it didn’t spoil my vacation.

Once again, patience and acceptance of the inevitable paid off.
