Save The World – AARP People to People Projects

"I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back"

Maya Angelou

Lesson two – AARP People to People Projects – October 2009

If you are looking for worthwhile causes, I’ve found some for you.

They are in an article in the September AARP Magazine. It’s called "People Helping People"

The link is: People Helping People

You will find 19 different causes to support that range from making a $25 single contribution to getting involved in a worthwhile cause that could change your life.
Each section in the article shows.
  1. What the cause is
  2. What you can do to help
  3. A phone number and a website to contact and get started
I chose two causes that will cost me about $50 a month in contributions and take about 5 hours of time.

They are:
  1. Spread some home-front cheer – sending needed items including school supplies to families of soldiers away from home
  2. Create jobs (making micro loans to small start ups)
I find that helping people helps me as well. It adds meaning to my life to do something positive for others. I hope you will find that to be true also.

Take a look at the article and see how you can help.
